Collage and Acrylic

A BIRD SONG- COLLAGE
I have been smitten by the world of collage. I love the different textures and layers that can be created in collage.
It is a wonderful form of art because you can use recycled and natural material that are easily found around the home. Like newspaper, old books and magazines, envelopes , onion skins, leaves that have partially decomposed, bark, tissue paper etc..... The list can go on and on. That isn't including the papers that you can purchase, like oriental washi papers, textured papers and home made papers. Then using your acrylic paints to glaze layers of colour.
Collage for me is about shapes and using negative and positive space. I also love the abstract quality that lends itself to the technique.

I too am smitten with Collage. Unfortunately, I've never been able to master it. You've done such an incredible job with this piece. I could look at it for hours. Love the repeating egg shapes and that touch of gold leaf.
Thank you so much for your kind words Gwen! Collage can be a challenge for sure, serendipity is sometimes involved in where the papers end up. Keep at it Gwen!
I LOVE collage. This is beautiful!
